“Phulkari” means “flower working” or “flower embroidery,” an intricate art form that originated in Punjab as early as the 15th century. Traditionally crafted on dyed khaddar, the most favored base color is red, along with its various shades.

This heritage embroidery features intricate geometric and floral designs, harmoniously balanced in composition and color. With over 23 distinct embroidery patterns, authentic Phulkari dupattas showcase even, regular, and smooth stitches. The hallmark of genuine Phulkari is its reverse side, where only faint, smooth lines of tiny dots appear—signifying the excellence of its craftsmanship.
