Jamnagari Bandhani Saree

Jamnagari Bandhani Saree - A vibrant craft believed to have been introduced in Kachchh by a Sindhi fakir, later spreading to Jamnagar. Evidence of similar tie-dye textiles dates back to Mohenjodaro (2000 B.C.), and Bana, the court poet of King Harsha, praised the skill of women in this art.
The Technique: Fabric is intricately tied to create patterns, preventing dye from seeping into tied areas. Deeply rooted in the social customs of Gujarat, it’s practiced in Jamnagar and Kachchh.
Difference Between Gujarat & Rajasthan: In Gujarat, threads are tied using nails, creating tiny, intricate dots, while in Rajasthan, small tools are used, resulting in less elaborate designs.
